What the latest US tariff announcements mean for your business

Following recent updates from the White House, we want to ensure you’re aware of upcoming changes to US import tariffs that may impact your shipments.

What’s changing?
President Trump has announced new global tariffs, taking effect from 5 April 2025, with further measures specifically affecting shipments from China and Hong Kong coming into force on 2 May 2025.

Here’s a quick summary of the changes:

  • Tariffs will apply to all shipments exceeding the $800 de minimis threshold.

  • The de minimis exemption will be removed for goods originating from China and Hong Kong. These shipments will be subject to duty and taxes, regardless of value, starting 2 May 2025.

What does this mean for you?

Unless you are shipping high-value goods exceeding $800 per shipment, operations will continue as usual.
